Default Installed Flowmaster

Well I'm new to this forum and just wanted to give my expierence with Flowmaster because I know there are alot of curious Ram owners out there. I have an 03 Ram 1500 4x4 QC SB with the 4.7L. I have had two 5.0L Mustangs built for the strip in which I ran the oringinal 40 series Flowmasters so I thought I wouild try it on the Ram. Now, I'm not sure what comes factory on these trucks as far as converters and resonators. Mine only has one converter after the two pipes come in as one. So let me just say the 40 Series I put on was one loud puppy!!!! Under light acceleration it was not bad but any thing over that look out. It just didn't seem to have that patened Flowmaster deep rumble. So after only one day on the truck I quickly ran to Summit Racing and bought the 50 Series Truck/SUV Flowmaster. Came home and in 45 min. the oh so sweet sound that I had grown to love was coming from my truck. The 40's are good with a dual exhaust and H-Pipe but I truely feel the 50's are the prime muffler if your only running one converter and such. Now on the other hand my dad put a 40 Series on his 01 Dakota 4.7L and he has two converters and a resonator and his sounds awesome!!!! I definately noticed a performance gain and yes my gas milage improved by an average of 1.75 mpg. I hope this helps someone out.
