Default Exhaust question

I know this has probably been asked several times in other posts. And I have found some good info on the topic. But what I wanted to ask is this. I have an 01 Ram with 5.2 in it. I was thinking of putting the Flowmaster Amer Thunder cat back on it. I want something that sounds good, plus I like the look of the side exits on both sides of truck. I am not looking to modify the truck greatly, other than a drop-in K&N and the exhaust. And I need something to shut my dad up. He put a glasspack and dual rear black chrome exits on his 04 Rumble Bee. The SLP Loud Mouth on my 98 Trans Am shut him up a little, but I want my truck to do the same. Thanks for any advice and opinions!

If you want to shut him up, run COMPLETE straight pipes all the way from your headers to back of the car, no cats/mufflers/resonators, nothing. That should shut him up, or if you want to get crazy, just unbolt your exhaust from your headers lol

But in all seriousness, get your Flows on, and then buy a 3" exhaust cut out, install it in before your muffler on the exhaust system, and that beast should be loud. [:@]

The reason why your SLP Loudmouth was so loud was because it was just running off of 2 small resonators, no mufflers. I dont know how it'll compare, but I figure sounding clean is 10x better in my opinion than sounding "loud", obnoxiously loud.

The American Thunder ought to do the trick. If you still want just a little more from time to time, you can put in an electric exhaust cut out before the cat, this way you can run a full open exhaust at the push of a button. Imagine rolling up next to you dad as your Ram rumbles over his, but then he revs his up trying to show you uo, but then you hit the button for the exhaust cut out and scare the crap out of everyone within a city block of you.[sm=smiley15.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]
