Muffler or Full Exhaust
Well I'm new to the whole SUV and Dodge engines world. I've had a 2000 Mustang GT for the past 6 years and modded the crap out of it (O/R H-pipe, catback, under drive pulleys, timing adjuster, 4:10's, cams, springs, short shifter, body work, blah, blah, blah).
So I traded that in for a 03 Durango R/T with the 5.9L engine. I want everyone to know that I have a big V8 under the hood and to also turn some heads, so I figure Flows or Magna Flows. Now, I did some reading and seen that it's not much difference adding an entire catback as it is just adding a muffler. Is this true? Are there any dyno numbers for this or is this just hearsay? If anyone has sound/video clips of their exhaust, that would be great as well. The only ones that I found were:
MF's website video (Durango w/Hemi)
Flows website audio (mufflers on cars not trucks/SUV)
XR-1 Borlas video (I believe) on this site

the 360 is a sweet motor. go with the full duals from the cat back. get rid of those factory pipes they are killing the power. installing a good mopar performance header will help truck breath better. everything that was done to the ford you could do to the truck. most people with the r/t package punch out the motor to a 408 cubic inch. if money is tight a good aftermarket throttle body will do wonders to the power along with a nice cold air intake. having gears installed is pricey, even more if its 4 x 4. a good 180 thermostat is a good mod for under 10.00.
