Default headers

I own a 5.2l 2wd 2000 durango and plan on running dual exhaust, but I'm having a problem picking headers. I like the borla headers, but there twice as much as the other brands. does anyone know a place that sells them for cheap or have another brand that they suggest?

I guess I'll go with edelbrock headers I noticed that alot of people here on dodgeforum have them. has anyone here ever bought a pair of shorty headers and two mufflers and brought them to a shop and had them run the pipes? Also I am really confused about what the heck a performance cat is exactly. Could I just run 2.5 in. pipe from my headers to two mufflers for true dual exhaust? please excuse my ignorance.

What's up?

I have a 99 5.2 durango I would like to know how you like the edelbrock headers if you get them. I think that they would offer the best performance for the price. Where will you be buying yours.

I was also checking out hedman headers, they might offer about the same performance for a good price also, maybe cheaper than Edelbrock. I would check out www.summitracing.com
Let us know how things work out for you.

Dont do headman...I have heard nothing but bad stories about them.

I have Edelbrock TES headers and love them...they are a great value for the price.

The best headers out there you can get are doug thorley headers...1200 bucks!

Mopar Performance and PPH are pretty much the same and are a step above edelbrock in both price and performance (more price though).

Gibsons are OK but to pricy for their output. JBA are another one that I keep hearing bad reviews on. And what ever you do...dont get the cheap ones! (Summit brand and such)

when you guys installed your exhaust did you do it yourself or have a shop do it? I planned on just bringing the headers, cats, and mufflers to a exhaust shop and having them do the actual install. Will the gas tank or spare tire cause any problems running TRUE dual exhaust.

I did mine myself. Just drove up to the muffler shop with out a cat and had a new y pipe made.

As for the duals...yes the gas take prevents you from running a steight pipe down the drivers side. So what they will do is bend a second pipe and run it along side the current one, with the mufflers right next to each other. As for the spare...if they tell you they cant bend around it..take it some where else.

If you are planning on hooking the headers up to the stock exhaust then the 4x4 might be a factor. Contact the manufacurer (edelbrock) and ask a rep for the correct part number.

Installing the headers was probably th easiest thing i have done! Just remember to spray the bolts with WD-40 or somthing the night before you work on the truck to break up the rust.

so it probly won't be a factor if it is a 4wd header if I have a shop do the whole exhaust.
I'll still call just in case. thanx! I can't wait till I get the whole thing done.
