Airaid Cold Air Intake
I just finished installing the Airaid Cold Air Intake system on my 04 Ram Hemi. It came with the Filter and housing, MIT (Modular Intake Tube), and Throttle Body Spacer. You can really here the difference when you jump on it. It is alot louder then stock. I have not done anything else to to truck. I plan on doing some exhaust work soon..Hemi's Rule
Sounds nice, but is there any increase in performance? A nice throaty roar under the hood is nice, but if it didn't change the performace it's just wasted money. Let us know.[sm=goodidea.gif]
I have noticed an increase in power, and it seems to down shift fast they it did before. Is it normal to here more sound coming from the engine compartment with this type of installation. At idle it sounds like it did, but as you speed up the sounds gets louder. It sounds like a performance exhaust. I did a base line Dyno run with 262.7 HP and 283.7 Torque. it seems to pull better stock. What type of exhaust is good for the new Hemi and will a chip help and if so what brand?
Oh yeah! A CAI or short ram intake will make a butt load of noise. On a V-8 it will make it roar like an open 4 bbl carburator. On most applications it will also have that noticable hiss at an idle as well as the deep roar when you punch the throttle. On turbocharged vehicles you won't hear any difference at an idle, but when you get into the throttle you get to hear the turbo scream.
I just put a CAI from MacPerformance on my ram! I love it! The stock airbox was terrible, and it really gives me more torque! It works awesome and makes a cool hiss when you jump on the throttle. I want to get headers to help flow more(already have a 40 series flow with no cat)
