Thinking of trading the Ram for a Wrangler
I know that this question has probably been asked several times, if soI apologize in advance.
Currently I'm the proud owner of a 2001 Ram 1500 Off-Road 4x4 but have the urge to possibly trade it for a '98 - '04 Wrangler. the reason I'm thinking about this is because we've sold our Travel Trailer this past Spring and I really don't need the Dodge's awesome towing capabilities anymore. Besides, a little more space in the garage would be nice too!
I've owned three Jeeps before: '88 Cherokee (I6), '94 Grand Cherokee (318), '98 Grand Cherokee (I6) so I'm already familiar with the engines, drivetrains and reliability that Jeeps offer.
My question is:
I still pull a 8 x 10 aluminum snowmobile trailer with two ATV's to various locations with a total weight of about 1800 lbs. Will a Wrangler be able to handle towing this setup?
*** On a side note, if anyone is interested in my truck or is considering trading their Wrangler for a full-size Dodge, you can PM me with details. I'm located in SE Minnesota and willing to drive a few miles if I need to.

You would be a little over the limit with a short wheelbase Wrangler. They are ratedto tow1,500 pounds. The long wheelbase Unlimited Wrangler ('05-'06) is rated to tow 2,500 pounds, I believe. Hope that helps.
Well I officially put my Dodge up For Sale yesterday. I'm definately going to get a Wrangler sometime soon!
The truck has 119K miles and is in GREAT shape and runs like a dream. The tires (Kuhmo tires 285/75-17) only have 1600 miles on them! I added several pictures to my Photo Gallery today if you'd like to take a look.
Asking price: $9995
PM me if interested or for more info.

im not sure of the "new" wranglers abilities to tow, but i have a 92 with a 4.0, 5 speed with a 4 inch lift and 3.73 gearing, 33 inch tires and i pull a 2000 lbs trailer all the time. i even towed that much and then some when it was at stock ride height. much more weight than that gets tricky to stop in a hurry. i pulled a 3500 lbs trailer from PA to FL twice, that was a tricky adventure and i wouldnt reccomend it to anyone. I also have flat towed dune buggy's many timeswith little difficulty.
Its all fun and games till someone slams on their brakes right in front of you. And that is the big issue. stopping.

the new wranglers can tow more due to the wider track and wheel base. the jeep could pull your trailer and its requirments but it will be a little show uphills with the auto shifting. oh yea, you need a trailer brake b/c the jeep brakes... well suck.
