Default Compass test drive

Hello Jeepers, First time to the forum, but you would know me from the dodge ram 2nd gen or 2nd gen. neons. Tried out a 2008 compass, the mrs. and I like it a lot and are think of trading our 2001 neon in on one of these units.
We are not off roaders, so the 2wd is just fine and I know these little rigs are not for off roading anyway. The one we had out was a 2008 cvt with auto stick, which I liked, it gave you something like 6 speeds that could be selected. It seem to be a solid well put together unit.
Can you help us out, is there anything to watch out for, complaints,..etc
Thanks Kayakman

Default RE: Compass test drive

Hello congrats on the test drive. My wife and I also have a Compass. 2007 Limited with the 5 speed manual, 2wd. Very well rounded car for the money. We love the handle ride and styling. The only thing we do not have in ours is the Boston Acoustic and sunroof other than that it is loaded, including the leather heated seats. This is the first jeep for us and we test drove the CVT when they first came out in early 06 but the wife did not like the feel. She likes having more control of the engine. The only thing that I do not like is when I changed over the stock radio to an aftermarket. We have had XM sattellite radio for the past 5 years and the Compass came with the Sirius radio. After a very short time she wanted her high end aftermarket back with XM, un beknownst to me you need a special adapter to be able to plug into the harness. Said adapter (CAN-BUS) cost anywhere between 85$ and $100 bucks. And getting into the dash to replace said radio sucks!!! Other than that very comfy on long trips the ESP system works great when used properly, read the owners manual. The wife gets crap from all the die hard Jeep fans that itsnot a real Jeep because we can't take the kids 4 wheeling in the back country, but that's what the Ram is for. Good Luck!!!
