Jeep Liberty Liberator Common Rail Diesel
Many people overlooked this little Jeep that was downstairs on display at the Mopar Speedshop exhibit at NAIAS...
Boasting superior range and significant low-end torque, the Jeep Liberator Common Rail Diesel (CRD) showcases the Jeep brand?s off-road capability while demonstrating the advantage of the common rail diesel engine.Boasting superior range and significant low-end torque, the Jeep Liberator Common Rail Diesel (CRD) showcases the Jeep brand's off-road capability while demonstrating the advantage of the common rail diesel engine.
Absent of carpet, leather and alloy wheels, the Liberator CRD is Jeep's absolute commitment to form and function. Highlights include a top-of-the-line GPS navigation system, an entertainment system, a canvas roof with a full-length sliding panel, four vinyl-trimmed bucket seats, a 9,000-lb. winch, radical steel bumpers and outrageous 16 x 8-inch cast-aluminum bead lock wheels and Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 315/75R16 tires.

First post. Is there any more information available on the Jeep Common Rail Diesel (CRD) available models? Since it looks like Jeep will also be going to a 6 Speed Manual in 2005, will that transmission be available with the diesel? I really don't like automatic transmissions, but I've found that many of the engines I like aren't available with the manual transmissions I prefer.
Models with manual transmissions seem to be getting rare. I recently received what should have been a great offer from a local dealer to trade-in my truck on a new model. I'm happy with the truck I have but it's got 111K miles and the offer to get a new one fairly cheap was compelling; however, the dealer couldn't find what I wanted engine/transmission-wise in any color. OTOH... That may have been a blessing in disguise because the Jeep/diesel alternative is a very attractive package and I can wait.

Ready for adventure or foreign beachhead, the Jeep Liberator CRD Diesel explores style and function enhancements, while making diesel engines cool. Showing off the Common Rail Diesel engine sold overseas, this project vehicle puts it to use driving four 16x8-inch bead lock wheels shod with trail-ready Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 315/75R16 tires. Other adventure prep includes a top-of-the-line GPS navigation system, entertainment system, canvas roof with a full-length sliding panel, four vinyl-trimmed bucket seats, 9,000-lb. winch, and radical steel bumpers. For serious off-roaders who embrace mud like an elixer, the Liberator has been stripped bare of carpeting and leather for a true hose-out interior. Bonus points are given for the masterful play on the Liberty name. While it may remind some enthusiasts of certain series of Gov. Schwarzenegger films, it is a great salute to the Boeing B-24 bomber that made a serious, uh, impact during WWII. The Liberator colors even remind of those great planes.
