Default Liberty tow question

Does anyone know if my 07 liberty (5 speed) without the tow package can tow my cavalier across the country (about 4000 miles) on a doly?

I bought an aftermarket class 3 hitch, the 5000lbs one and I will be putting in a transmission cooler before the trip.

Thanks for any advice

Danny.

Probably not rated to do so, but since you question is WILL IT, then YES it will.
I'd not make a habit of pulling such weight with a Libery, but for a one time thing, I'd go ahead and do it...

I should probably also add that with being WAY over the tow rating of the vehicle, your largest issue will be STOPPING! I towed my bass boat a few time with the ex's Grand Cherokee when we were still married, and a GC is a bigger than a Liberty, I can tell you that you had to begin braking WAY before I ever had to while towing it with my truck!!!

Usually shorter wheel base truck/SUV's have a tendancy to not want to stay straight when stopping, you could easily see your *** end try to pass the front if you get onthe brake to much.
