Default Ported Heads & Manifold

Hi Dodge People,

I need your Help. I recently had to rebuilt my Jeeps engine 3.8L V6 Chrysler since I was already opening the engine I decided to port the whole thing. The problem is now the car chokes I think there is too much air going in. Slow start too. Any way, I have to get my cam sent out to be modified and some how get more gas in. Does anybody knows of a true tunable chip? until I get some money for that is there any tricks to get the ecu to send more gas? per haps the o2 sensors? I am running with no cats using a spacer to fool it.. please any advice would be appreciated.. HI from Puerto Rico

well, you're in the wrong section but, you could try to make a "power wire" if you have a IAT sensor... it is just a resistor in the wire which tricks the computer into thinking it is 20 some degrees cooler which gives the motor more fuel. not sure if you can do this on your 3.8L tho..
do a search for more info on the power wire..

Don't Know anything about chrysler V6's. However, Probably need to adjust the timing to compensate for the increased airflow. Also need to compensate with additional fuel.

They only you can have to much air intake is if your engines not able to puch it out as fast. So if you took alot out, You might look at a set of headers. Also should probably hook a scanner to it and seeing what your Air sensor is reading.

Thank you very much, in witch place should I post this? I am gonna look into it. So far I haven't found anything on a power wire but it sounds like a good quick solution...

Are you sure you have the heads on the right way with the gaskets and not blocking air or have any leaks.

I bought a Olds 350 once from a kid in his car that his folks were making him sell. He was going off to college and it wasnt running and they didnt want it sitting in thier yard. He had the engine rebuilt and looked like new and was in the process of re-wiring everything. Anyway, I got it home and sure enough it would not start. I pulled the carb to go through it first and how about he had the carb gasket on backwards. It would still bolt up but was blocking the primary holes on the intake so no air could get down them. After i flipped it around it fired right up.

Thanks,

No man everything was done by the book. Experience people are telling me that I need more gas in to compensate for the additional air flow...
