Grand Cherokee custom rod rack...
I got tired of having no room for gear when I carry my fishing rods in my Grand Cherokee. Not to mention getting myself or other occupants poked in the face with one-piece rods!
With my truck, obviously this isn't a problem, but I take the Jeep on longer trips due to gas mileage, more dry storage, etc.
I am in the process of getting ahold of a 2nd set of luggage rack bars to build one for the roof, but there are times you don't want to have to leave $100+ rods or $150+ reels up on the roof to be stolen.
I used to keep a couple of inexpensive gun racks in the rear, side windows. These worked ok, especially if I was alone, but any rod over 5' would extend past the passenger seat and be there, ready to whack a passenger in the side of the face or worse yet, get caught up when they got in/out and have a chance to get broken.
Old system:

So, yesterday I made a rack system to hold them up against the headliner, out of the way. I can get up to 7' one-piece rods up there straight with no issue or 7 1/2' rods if I angle them slightly.
New System:

That is a $7 shower curtain rod in the front, the blue bungee was an idea I had to allow 7 1/2' rods to fit without having to put them in at an angle, it brings the poles down enough so that they don't come in over the visors. I think I'm going to just keep the bungee in the jeep and not put it up unless I'm taking the very long rods...
