Default Chrysler Recommend Oil 5.7 Hemi

Chrysler recommends 5W20 oil in the U.S. for the 2019 and 2020 5.7 Hemi.. There is a lot of talk on the various forums about using other weights like 0W20 and being told by Chrysler and the Dealerships that this will affect the MDS and potentially damage the motor. So it makes a fellow wonder why 0W20 is the recommended oil right in the owners manual for my Canadian Grande Cherokee with the 5.7. Wonder if they are saying Canadian spec motors are different than the U.S. one.

michell on demand lists the spec as 5w20 for a 5.7 and 0w20 for a 3.6

Don't know who Mitchell on Demand is but I do have my original vehicle copy of the owners manual that came with the GC last week and have downloaded the PDF U.S. manual. In the Canadian, for the non-SRT, it recommends 0w20 for the 5.7 and the 6 cylinder and the U.S. recommends 5w20 for both the 5.7 and the 6 cylinder. The difference in recommendations is what I found interesting. My bet is the 0W20 got the nod for Canada because it is regularly very cold here, but since neither manual has different weights for different temp ranges I just find it interesting the U.S. dealers are so adamant that US buyer MUST use only 5W20.

michell is a information system for mechanics. they buy the information from the manufacturer. I would clarify that info with the dealer parts department.
