Sounds like Alt is okay, but you still can have bad battery. Might be a dead or dieing cell. This will change your ca/cca ratings and make it harder for vehicle to start.

It could also be a fuel problem. Not enough fuel can make for hard starting.

Sounds like the fan they put in your Jeep is also wired to ignition. If it was wired direct to battery, it would run 24/7 not just when it was off. Also if it doesn't run when Jeep is on, then you would be overheating in no time at all. If it does run with the Jeep off, then it can cause a battery drain unless it has some way of recharging the battery itself. Did Autozone test your Alternater also? They can do it without you having to remove it from the vehicle. They can actually check the whole charging system this way, which would be a good idea. I don't see why the fan needs to run when the vehicle is off. I do know some vehicles like the Jetta do though, but not a Jeep.

If I am not mistaken, when the alt is charging the battery, you should get the same reading on a meter at the alt and the batt.

well see this fan is thermostaticaly controled and comes on when temp reaches 210. i did not have autoxone check alt because i got a reading of 13.86 when i checked it at battery, but i guess alt could be bad even if i got that reading, not sure. what about spark plugs, wires and dis can they cause this? do you know of anyway to check and see what the starter is pulling(amps) when vehicle is starting? i know autozone can check it when you take it off the vehicle but i was trying not to do this unless i absolutly have to. thanks alot. oh and i havent found anyone interested in the burb, everyone wants a 4 bangercause of gas, but i will keep tryin. you ever thought about selling it on ebay?

Tried posting on eBay twice, couldn't get enough. Can't go less than what I sent in the PM. As for the Jeep, it still sounds like a bad diode in the alt. You should have the whole system checked by autozone in the vehicle. Cant remember if it would give indication or not, but you could start Jeep and disconnect battery with it running. If Jeep stays running, it usually means the alt is good. If it dies when you disconnect the batt, then the alt is bad. Again, don't remember if this would indicate a bad diode in the alt though, but it is a test you can do at home.
