'05 Liberty Renegade gets first Midsize SUV Diesel Engine for the US and Canadian markets. It will be available on both Sport and Limited models.
The 2.8 L CRD (Common Rail Diesel) engine is rated at an estimated 160hp at 3,800 RPM and with 295 lb-ft at 1,800 RPM, which should provide EXCELLENT performance and towing ability.
Diesel Engines improve the fuel economy an average of 25% and reducing CO2 emissions by an average of 20%.
Pretty cool... way to go Jeep for making the first move!

I rented a Grand Cherokee Diesel in Germany last year. Very nice to drive! Nothing like the VW Touareg V10 Turbo Diesel though: 310hp and 550lb-ft!![sm=tongue.gif]
It is a step in the right direction, if other american auto maker would just follow suit it would be great! I am trying to talk my wife into trading her buick redevous for one.
