Default RE: gas to diesel conversion

Hello, this is one of my first posts buy I think I can help.

The XJ did come with a 2.0l renault Diesel for a few years and had a 4 speed auto option, but these were sold mostly in Canada and Europe. From what I understand these were pretty anemic.

Why Diesel? If you are going for fuel savings you are going to spend more on the change than any mpg savings (Even with Bio-Diesel). If you want more power, a 4.0l or 4.6l stroker paired with an AW4 (aw4 auto will be on that 4.0L) will give you plenty.

If you want a diesel rock solid offroad project the Suzuki Samurai with a VW 1.9L TDI engine is pretty unstoppable and good on gas.
