Default Transmission types?

I was wondering what auto transmissions come in a 94 Jeep Cherokee sport v6 4wd, and a 95 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo v6 4wd? Would these be weak or strong trans?

Also what years and types would have the stongest auto transmissions?

Niether of those jeeps came with a V6. Both have the 4L I6. The Cherokee came with an AW4 trans. It is a very stout trans. & will last a long time behind the 4L. I don't know about the Grand. JIM.

Thanks for the help. Since they are 4L, they have timing belt not chain?

What other years would have a good trany?

The 4.0L has a timing chain. In the XJ if it is a 4L with an auto it has the AW4 trans. For more info on the Grand try www.nagca.com
They might be able to help. JIM.
