I have a 98 jeep grand cherokee and I had installed a remote car starter on it. when I remote start, it will start then shut off about five seconds later. anyone have any ideas?

 

Is there a security system on the jeep?
If the remote started was installed by a shop they should have made sure it works properly and they should fix it.

They probably wired something wrong.... like normally when you turn the key the fuel pump runs for about 5 seconds to prime the system, maybe that is why the jeep turns off after 5 seconds.

 

My buddy has the same problem but in a 99 ram, the remote start worked for a good while but dont work anymore. Checked all the fuses and none of them are damaged, any other suggestions?

 

is the head of the key gray or black?
