trani, clutch, or master slate?
Hi, I have a 92 jeep wrangler and I think the trani went out on me, but it is only a few years old with very little miles on it. It starts fine but if I try to shift it into gears I won't go anywhere and I don't even need to have the clutch in to shift into first through fifth. Although I do need t o put the clutch in to go into reverse of which I still somewhat have reverse. A friend told me it could be the master slate cylinder. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe you mean master or slave cylinder unless there is a new one I have not heard of. The master cylinder is where you put your clutch fluyid and the slave cylinder is located on the transmission which allows the pressure plate to releive pressure on the clutch so you can put it into gear. If you can put the transmission in gear with the engine running and it does not grind or go anywhere, you need a rebuild. It's internal.
I HAVE A 91 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH THE SIMILAR PROBLEM.MINE GRINDS WHEN TRYING TO PUT IN ANY GEAR WHEN RUNNING.FEELS LIKE NO CLUTCH AT ALL BEHIND PEDAL.SLAVE CYL. REPLACED ALREADY BUT WHEN PUMP CLUTCH PEDAL NO BUBBLES OR MOVEMENT IN SLAVE CYL.FLUID.I LOST ALLCLUTCH ONE DAY JUST OUT OF THE BLUE.DO I NEED TO REPLACE SLAVE CYL. AGAIN? ALSO DIDNT SEE A BLEEDER VALVE ON NEW SLAVE CYL. IS THERE ONE
