Default Liftgate light switch

This sounds like a pretty dumb question, but where is the liftgate light switch for the interior cargo lights located on an '04 Grand Cherokee? The rear interior lights come on when the doors open, but not when the liftgate is opened.
Thanks,
Roger

my best guess would be to check the area where the liftgate meets the rest of the body. (i hope that makes sence). I know that the door sensors in the D are in the latch itself. for example, the D knows the door is open when the latch itself is released.

On my 01 Cherokee you can turn off the light with the hatch open by pushing the light, the light itself is a push on-off swich. Make sure it isn't turned off. It would make for an easy fix, good luck.

On the Cherokee's there is a mercury switch in the hatch. More than likely the same on the Grands. JIM.
