Does anyone know what size the stock speakers on a 1998 and above jeep Cherokee? I used to have an '89 Cherokee and it had two 6' front and something like 5 * 9's in the rear liftgate...

Has anyone done any custom stereo sysytems with these trucks?

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport - lovin it!

 

look on crutchfield's website or go to best buy website. when you look for speakers it will ask you what vehicle you have and it will tell you what size speakers you need.

 

STANDARD
The standard equipment speaker system includes speakers in six locations. One 6.4 centimeter (2.50 inch) diameter tweeter is installed on each end of the instrument panel top pad. One 15.2 by 22.9 centimeter (6 by 9 inch) full-range speaker is located in each front door. There is also one full-range 16.5 centimeter (6.5 inch) diameter full-range speaker located in each rear door.

PREMIUM
The optional premium speaker system features six Infinity model speakers in six locations. Each of the standard speakers is replaced with Infinity model speakers. One 6.4 centimeter (2.50 inch) diameter Infinity tweeter is installed on each end of the instrument panel top pad. One 15.2 by 22.9 centimeter (6 by 9 inch) Infinity woofer is located in each front door. There is also one full-range 16.5 centimeter (6.5 inch) diameter Infinity full-range speaker located in each rear door. The premium speaker system also includes an additional Infinity power amplifier. The total available power of the premium speaker system is about 180 watts.

 

actually, that's not correct...Those specs sound like the specs from mopar cars, however...but not in the XJs...

if you have the infinity premium system you've got 1" dome tweeters on the doors near the mirrors, 6.5" woofers in the doors and 5.25" coaxials in the rear sound bar...

with little modification, you can put 6.5" coaxials in the rear soundbar (depending on model, you may just have to drill new mounting holes...) and I know there are plenty of people out there who have modified it to drop in a pair of 6x9"s...

for the fronts, definitely stick with components...I'd suggest Inifity Kappas for something good, but not ungodly expensive.

 

Yeah, that last post is correct, not the one before it. You'll either have 5.25s or 6.5s in the front and 5.25s in the rear sound bar.
