1991 Spirit R/T Flywheel?
Hi,
My brother has a 1991 Spirit R/T that he is putting a high flow exhaust on and already has the FWD Performance Chip. To handle this power he is also putting in a Quaife ATB. I told him to also put in a new SPEC Stage 3 clutch and if the stock flywheel is not aluminum to replace that with an Aluminum one. Anyone know what the stock flywheel is made of and if there is a benefit to going lighter?
Thanks,
Danno

Stock one is made of cast iron and wieghs about 25 lbs roughly. To go with a aluminum you would gain a faster reving engine and more horsepower on high end. You do loose some torque from not having the extra weight of it. I wish my budget would allow one for me but maybe someday. Don't worry about lossing the torque since you would have problem geting the car to hook up at start anyways.
Here is a light wieght steel one.
