I have two problems with my car, but they probably arise from the same thing.

1.When I let off the gas to cruise, it seems like it loses its speed REALLY fast, faster than any other car I've driven.

2. The car hesistates when I accelerate from a stop. It goes, slows, then goes again.

any ideas?

 

Sounds like my 92.
Check/replace the 02 Sensor.
Check your tail pipe. You'll probably find it's really black.
When I backed off on the highway, there was a bang, probably the engine stalling. The car had very poor pickup which is not surprising considering rich it was running.
Price around 50-80$
