head swap

Default head swap

i'm going to swap my head for one off a neon. i heard it could be done and its pretty easy is that true. if so which year should i get. i have a 84 shelby charger with the 2.2 h.o its not a turbo. thanks for your help

Even if it isn't turbo there is still alot that needs to be done. You need to make oil drain back in the head. You have to plug and machine the block. You need a custom intake but you could get away with stock exhaust manifold. You also need to make a set of cam gears. You could swap the whole motor over and keep your current transmission.

If I was you I would get a turbo motor setup it would be cheaper and easier to put together. Also faster when your done if you go with a intercooled setup like I got on my 85 Shelby charger.

i found a 2004 pt 2.4 turbo - the air intake. will that bolt up to my trans?? im looking for more power without to much work. any thoughts. thanks

I seen people run the whole motor on the old trans since all the bolt holes line up except for one. I'm not expert on doing this just seen what other have done. All the 2.0 2.4 should be the same style block. There is people that have made the stock 2.2 distriber run off the end of one of the cams so you could run the stock wiring.
