I have a chance to pick up a free91 Dodge spiritwith the non turbo 2.5 auto. I would assume it has a a413. My question is the car will not go into reverse at all. Every selection on the gear shift makes the car move forward. Someone told me that i can just adjust the 1/2 band and the lo/rev band. Does that seem like it would correct the problem? What else could be the problem? Does anyone know what to adjust the bands to? I was told i need an inch pounds torque wrench. Any help would be great. Thanks

 

im not sure about that but where are you located i pick it up from you if you dont want it

 

sounds like it might be the gear selector lever. My spirit's got sticky and bent the lever on the trans, resulting in improper shifting, you can tell bedcause it wont go anywhere near park. But hey, worst case scenario, you need a rebuild. The rebuild on the a413 is a BREEZE. parts are about $100 at autozone...it's a weekend job at most.
