Default Need More Ponies!

I run a 1993 dodge shadow with a 3.0L V6 and an Automatic at the local circle track. I am the only dodge out there in my division. I mostly compete against Beretta's and Cavaliers with 3.1L motors. I can beat them on handling through the corners but down the straight away I have nothing for them. I have already made some modifications to the motor including a low stall torque converter put a 3 speed transmission out of a Caravan and changed the stock gear ratio of 2.5 to 3.1. Also the intake manifold heads and exhaust manifold have been ported and polished and the stock throttle body relpaced with one off a 3.3 liter caravan motor. I have looked everywhere for some sort of performance parts for this motor and have been unable to find anything. If anyone has any ideas of what I could do to get some more horsepower out of this thing please let me know. Oh and also there is a switch to shut off the alternator wired in to give me a few more horses as well.

why do you think that switching your alternator off will add power? turning it of will actually make you loss power. as long as you are still turning the alternator pully, you are lossing power to the wheels.

its a parasitic loss by rotational mass. and i don't know how long these races are that you run in,

but it sounds like when you race you are just running on your battery? but if your not getting 12.5-14 volts to your ignition system your car wont run at its full potential.

so if your battery is even a little low you won't be getting as much power as you would with the alternator hooked up.
