87 reliant fuel mileage

Default 87 reliant fuel mileage

recently bought a 87 reliant le riding around town been getting 19 mpg car has a 2.2 liter engine with a 3 speed auto trans any one out there got one,and what kind of mileage you get,car runs fine seems like 19 mpg is kind of low ,no codes in mine,air filter clean,fuel filter good,timing set to specs ,tire pressure good

2.2 were never known as great for gas mileage. Best is probably mid twenties hi-way. TBFI gets slightly better than the carb engine. V-6 (Multi FI) with OD gets way better mileage (low thirties) and lots more power.

A friend of mine had a Reliant with the 2.2L and he got fantastic gas mileage bordering on 40 MPG, it got at least high 30's.

I got 26mpg in my beater 87 tbi lebaron and that had no sort of tune up whatsoever and had the cheapest crap everything. I would expect a good car and lighter like a reliant to be hitting 30 or better.

X P3 FE - I have a turbo 2.2 modded and can still manage 29mpg highway in a tank Shelby Lancer.
