I just returned fron a road trip in My 1982 K Car . While on the way to my destination the Gas Station Attendant offered to check fluids. It seemed odd to me when he suggested I needed transmission fluid, however I let him add it.

While returning from my trip roughly 500 miles of Hyway and city driving later My transmission was slipping badly and not shifting into high gear consistently. Some times when stopping at a red light I worried that I would sit there accelerating and going nowhere as if in Neutral.

After looking at things yesterday I found the transmission fluid was WAY OVERFILLED. I removed probably 1/2 pint of Transmission fluid but I am worried about the transmission that was installed just over one year ago.

From the driving tests so far it is better, but not 100% of what it was before it was overfilled. The transmission still seems to slip and it still delays at times after arriving to a sop light.

My question is is what I am experiencing a temporary effect after oit was overfilled or is the transmission suffering some permanent damage as a result of having been overfilled?

What kind of fluid did he put in. The Ks use Dex 2. I dont want to scare you but if he over filled it, theres a chance he used the wrong fluid. I would bring up to the proper level and it to the trans shop where you had the work done, and let them look over it tell them its slipping but dont tell them it was overfilled it might void your warranty.
