'93 Shadow audio thing
Alright, it's been a while since I posted, but here we go
My cousin has a '93 dodge shadow and the audio system needs a bit of an overhaul, so I need a few things answered:
1) Do I have to remove the front panel with the HVAC controls and such to get at the scews holding in the receiver (it's not factory), or should the little carrier thing (the main receiver unit can be pulled out as a security feature I guess) just pop out? If not, how do I remove that front panel?
2) If anyone has a wiring diagram for this car, I'd appreciate it. This is not crucial, as my grandpa works at a dealership and can pull an old stereo off a shelf and I can get it off that.
3) How do I access the speakers in the front doors, and are they in fact 6.5 inches, 'cause that's what they look like to me. If I'm wrong I'ma have to buy her some new speakers, otherwise I got a pair of duals with my receiver I can use.
Thanks in advance.

First pull off the part in the center (just clips on), then there will be 4 screws two above the radio and one under each side of the dash that hold that part on. After pulling off these 2 parts you can take the stereo out. I dont have a wiring diagram for the stereo...all the speaker wires were ripped out of my car when I got it so I ran new wire. To get to the speakers in the front doors first remove the 3 screws that hold the armrest on, then the black part around the door handle (push in and slide towards the back of the car and it will slide right off). Then carefully pop the door panel off. The speakers are in fact 5.25 (5 1/4 inch), you will only be able to use 3 screws to hold the speaker in but it will work fine (6.5 inch speakers are too big and will not fit, Ive tried). If you have any other questions just post and I would be more than happy to help you out.
Hi,
For radio wire harness diagrams try www.installdr.com (Install Doctor).
If you have a Dodge radio that doesn't work or you don't want, you can take it apart and use the connector and wires to connect between the factory connector and an after market connector.
I drive with my headlights on at all times. It used to bug me that I couldn't see the radio clock display when it was dimmed during the day. I used the wire diagram to find the 2 wires for dimming (J and K on the gray connector) and I clipped them off. No dimmer at night but I prefer it that way. If installing after market these wires are not used anyway.
Good Luck.

unless you get it installed at best buy. bastards charged me 100 bucks and didn't hook up the dimming wire, had to do it myself. only had them do it so I could watch and know what to do in the future.
