They mention them in what is commonlhy known as the 2.2/2.5 bible. The FWD book put out by chrysler years back. Most say you would be better off going turbo because the parts are readily available and somewhat cheap. But everyone has a turbo.. teh SC set up wold be pretty cool. I used to have an 83 rampage and if i would have had cash back then i would have supercharged it.

good luck

Its an old trick to supercharge a turbo'd engine, gets rid of the turbo lag.

Ideally you'd want a fairly small blower with a small diameter pulley to drive it. You prolly wouldnt have to get a kit per say, a roots-style would be easiest to mount.

You could grab an Eaton M90 out of a ~89 tbird, they're fairly cheap on eBay, dirt cheap in most upull-its. It would prolly be overkill on a 2.x for just getting rid of turbo lag, ideally you'd wanna find a M45 or a M62 (in some of the 3.8 blown GMs). Not sure if the M45 ever saw OEM use, but they're out there. M90 would prolly be the cheapest.

Nice thing abt roots style Eatons, you can mount it in any orientation, self contained oiling system, etc.

do you know how hard a roots or even centrifugal type supercharger would be on one of those little 4 cyl. engines? the engine wouldnt hold up that long, especially if its a 2.5L.

a friend of mine owns a 1991? daytona shelby z with a turbocharged 2.2. he used the awd setup from a caravan to make it all wheel drive and found a website to do a bunch of turbo mods to push a ****load more power and virtually eliminate turbo lag. i know he can smoke my dakota like a walk in the park. easy as ****.

i dont have any dyno runs on my truck, but my cousins 5.9 r/t is pushing more than 300hp with a paxton supercharger on it and my truck is fast enough to gain 3 car lengths on it in a 1/4 mile.

Turbos ARE the way to go with 4 cyl. engines because they dont take power to make power.

They also make Turbos with the variable nozzles to help reduce turbo lag. I don't know if they still make those tho.

Actually there are roots style blowers out there designed for tiny engines, and I don't just mean lawn mowers- the Eaton M45 is designed for engines under 3L- aka 4 cylinder engines.

The M62 is for small V6s, the M90 is for larger V6's and small V8s, M112 works good for V8s but good luck to ya if you want to find room for one in most engine bays!
