Default Questions and what to expect on my new 93 Shadow ES conv. 42k

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick comparison here if any of you guys can for me.

(1) 2000 Stratus Es 2.5Lv6 SOHC 24V Auto/stick loaded 67k on her 168HP@5800-170TQ@4350 0-60 was 9.7 when it was new from reviews curb weight is 3058

(2) 1999 Sentra Se-l 2.0L4 DOHC 16V 5 speed loaded 72k on her 140hp@6400- 132TQ@4800 0-60 was 7.8 when it was new from all the reviews curb weight is 2315

(3) 1993 Shadow Es 3.0LV6 SOHC 12V Auto loaded 42K 141HP@5200- 171TQ@2400curb weight is 2916 I can’t seem to find any 0-60 times for the car?

I drive the Sentra back and forth to work (53 miles one way on the turnpike 5-6 days a week) she averages around 25-28 mpg on the open road with cruise between 79-83 (turnpike (75 is the speed limit) I love the Sentra as it’s a very cool car being a sel and not many made with this package and motor and low miles bought when it was new and then my mom bought the stratus when it was new and we got it from her when she got her (ughh new 4 door G35) we got the Shadow late sat night so we just drove it home and parked it and haven’t driven it since then (our insurance company don’t open till Monday morn) the car was a one owner and all the service records are with the car even the ones from the tires and top being replaced recently. Ok so now for the questions.

(1) Power wise what should I expect from the Shadow its going to be my commute car back and forth to work. I know it won’t be as quick as the Stratus as it is a 24 valve motor but it also weights more as well also. My guess would be it should be right on level if not a little more powerful than the Sentra right? But not as fast in the 0-60 right?

(2) Gas Mileage (was told that it should be about what I get in my Sentra on the open highway.

(3) What all should I worry about with the car (I have read on the Valve seat- issues with them slipping and they start to smoke. What else should I watch with her as well?

(4) I know it’s an ES thing but what was up with that wood trim in it? It’s a sporty typed car not a near luxury or luxury car.

(5) My mother had a Dynasty a long time ago was a great car 3.3 AOD never had any issues with it, she traded in on a 3.3V6 AOD grand Caravan and it ate 2 Trans while she had it. I know the Shadow is an AOD as well or I believe it isn’t haven’t looked too close to that, if so is it the Ultra Drive (think that’s what they was called in the Dynasty and Caravans

(6) What rims should this car have as well as I think they was changed out at some point as it has the saw typed silver satin finished rims with Dodge in that Orange red on them.

(7) Has anyone tried to get the Es 2 door or 4 door factory wrap spoiler cut or shaved down to work on the convertible sine it has the second boot looking thing on the trunk lid?

(8) Gauges? Dash Trim (carbon fiber and such besides the wood) or am I stuck with that or the non ES black or what ever I make for it?

(9) Some directions to places around the net that has neat stuff for our cars and ideals on things to do to them.

Ok well thanks for any help and letting me know what I should expect from the car, I have always wanted a Shadow Es Convertible and the friend’s wife just got her new Mustang Convertible and they offered me the shadow as I have always wanted there’s as its always been babied and taken care of and for the money and the mileage I couldn’t pass up the deal. What would have a good price been also? I paid 3200.00 for my car, I am sure it was too much right? But I just looked at the mileage and service records and such and the shape of the car and knew I wouldn’t find another with the miles/service records and immaculate condition there’s was in (or doubt I would have)

Sorry so long
Thanks Donnie H.

Pretty much anything you wanna do is gonna be custom, isnt a whole lot you can buy for them from anyplace. As for the woodgrain (icky) you can get the stock black, or sand it down and paint it, I painted all my black trim white in my car to offset the colors...and everyone loves it. www.cardomain.com/id/bassboy80_2000 ...as for the gas mileage i couldnt help much there, ive got the 4 cyl.

They make lowering springs (eibach), a few body kits, and some other things. Go to E-Bay and search for "Shadow" and you'll find a few other things that people have developed for the car. Otherwise, like Bassboy said, you'll have to keep it custom.
