Default 2.5L dodge shadow turbo swap?

i have the 4 banger 2.5L NON turbo model how hard would it be to just put a turbo on it from the turbo model dodge shadow? could i just go to the junk yard and pull the down pipes and the turbo it self then just take it home and put it on mine?
and will it just bolt right up? or would i need to do some mods?
sorry i dont know to much about that kinda stuff just looking for a little more power and to not be the only one outa all my friends with out a turbo (:

It's possible but a pain. You need to swap all the wiring and the computer.
the engine is straight forward. you can either do a complete turbo swap, recommended, or build your own. To do your own engine to convert to turbo you have to get new pistons (never get hyperutectic) and rods, I don't think anything needs done to the head other than the intake and exhaust. Because you have an N/A engine there is no oil return to the oil pan.
If you have a manual tranny you don't néed to swap it, granted it is the a523, as that is the best easily available tranny around, far better than the a555.
It might be faster, cheaper, and easier to just buy a turbo car and build it. Look for anything past '89 as they were more updated.

You might want to double check this information as it has been awhile since I had my TD and much might have changed or just not be available. Try www.fwdperformance.com or www.turbododge.com

big problem. you cant run a non-turbo engine with a turbo. compression ratio is too high on the non-turbo and you'll end up blowing it apart if you put boost to it.

the easiest solution, just buy a turbo car and be done with it. there's plenty out there.

actually, you can just drop a turbo onto a N/A engine, but you have to run super low boost, about 3-4 lbs, and make sure everything is in good shape. It will give power but not worth it. But I am being nitpicky. But that was the reason I said to change the pistons, I am not sure about the rods, but the crank will be fine.

Absolutely correct on it being easier to just get a turbo car. Been thinking about getting back into the boost myself.
