Default 92 Shadow 2.5 Transmission 'bucking'

I have a 1992 Shadow 2.5 with a 3 speed auto transmission.

Sometimes (maybe once every 15 or 20 starts) the vehicle will buck like the transmission is engaging/disengaging quickly. If I let off of the gas pedal it will stabilize and work normally.

This only happens in first gear. And all other gears feel completely normal.

Fluid is clean and full. I don't know what fluid type it is as i just bought the car.

Things I have done to the car in the past few days.
Removed counter rotating assembly. (I believe bearings were failing)
Replaced timing belt
Replaced all Accessory belts
New plugs/wires/rotor

Engine now purrs very smoothly.

Any suggestions on the transmission problem would be appreciated.

EGR, catalytic converter, bad coil, or just a loose vacuum hose. If it's the tranny, nothing you can do but replace the filter and wait for it to die, but I seriously doubt it's the tranny. Sounds more like one of the things I wrote. Hard to pinpoint without experiencing it myself. I've had so many of these K's that if I could drive it, I could tell you in 30 seconds what it is, but not being there it's kind of a shot in the dark.

Mantisman51. Thanks for the quick reply.

Let me ask a few more questions.
1. Is the automatic shift actuated via vacuum or electronics?
2. By 'bad coil' are you referring to the ignition coil?
3. Is the filter in the transmission easy to change by dropping the pan on the transmission?

I'll replace the EGR valve and check any associated hoses.

1. Vacuum
2. Yes
3. Yes, you take off the tranny pan and a simple clip holds the filter in.

You can tell if the EGR is bad because it will make a hissing noise or sound like it has an air leak. So don't replace it unless you verify it is bad.

So I finally got some time to look at this. EGR seems to be ok. Tranny filter is on the list for the next day or two.

But I can't seem to locate the vacuum line that heads down to the trans, can anyone tell me where that hose should be located?

Thanks
