Default 95 Acclaim Headlight/ dash light/ gauge issue

So here goes.....
When I turn the headlights on, My gauges go crazy, I have no dash lights. If I turn the dimmer all the way down (dash lights off) I get gauges back but they don't read quite right. Now to confuse it even more with the lights off the gauges work normal, but if I use the directionals the gauges drop out as the directional flashes. I checked fuses, the one for illumination was completely melted.
All the exterior lights are working as they should. I already tried a headlight switch, which wasn't the issue.
Help someone,
it's down until it gets fixed.

Sounds like a bad ground at the cluster somewhere. Can you take it out easily and reseat all the connectors?

Ya that's easy enough to do.
That was where I planned on starting, just hope I find something.

Ended up the cluster itself had failed causing the other issues.
Got her back up and rolling.
