The blower positons work but not the climate selectors. Is there a way to check this and what would be the problem of it not working?

 

Vacuum leak somewhere. Check your vacuum lines, specifically the ones that go into the firewall from the engine bay. If all is good there pull the HVAC switches out and check the lines behind them.

Never had a switch itself fail, it's always been a vacuum issue.
