Default Spirit Steering Column Noise

The steering column on my 1991 Spirit is making some loud moaning sounds. I'm pretty sure it is not my steering pump, because the noise is really isolated in the column, and the noise is not prolonged. It happens when the wheel is cranked 1/2 way in either direction. The sound is of a short duration , just a "quick moan", then it disappears as the wheel is progressivly turned further.
I have some excellent dry graphite aeresol spray, but I don't know where I should position the spray-tube. Is there an easy way to access the steering shaft so I can lubricate it?

Thanks

Default RE: Spirit Steering Column Noise

My Shadow column has a "moan" and I dicovered that the rubber collar was rubbing where the column goes through.
