Another problem with an 86 Dodge 600
I'm having a problem with my 86 Dodge 600: it's needing starter fluid just to start and then, when running, acts like it's starving. I took it to Autozone for diagnostics and they suggested a "vehicle speed sensor" which my book doesn't even show the Dodge having. Help?
The speed sensor only operates the speedometer. It sounds like it needs a good cleaning. Get some Gumout carb and choke cleaner and while it's running spray the carb/throttle body down real good with it. You will need to operate the throttle while doing this, spraying it down and into the carb/throttle body will cause it to stall if you don't. Spray it all down until it looks like new, this stuff will clean off any build up and also help clean the valves up as well.
