Hey guys I'm new and have a dilemma
I just bought a new ( to me anyway) 600 se and it doesnt run right now so i put a new battery in it and it will run if you put starting fluid in it so i knwo everything is on the up and up i pulled the tank and replaced the fuel pump witha new one *** well as sock and a new filter and new rubber fuel lines all the way around hwen i yurn on the key no fuel is coming out the feed hose so I checked my haynes and chilton book does the auto off relay control the fuel pump because now i don't hear any sound in the tank, or am i going to have to pull the fuel pump againn and warranty it and get another any and all help will be appreeciated

IIRC, on the older cars, they did not have a fuel pump relay, that was controlled by the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD). If it does not have a fuel pump relay, than the pump gets its juice from the ASD.
ASD /Fuel Pump Relay- To Test
(1) Remove relay
(2) Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals 85 and 86. Resistance should be 75 +/- 5 ohms for resistor equipped relays.
(3) Connect ohmmeter between terminals 87A and 30. Continuity should be present.
(4) Connecto ohmmeter between 87 and 30. Continuity should NOT be present.
(5) Use jumper wires (16 gauge or smaller) Connect one jumper wire between terminal 85 (on the relay) to the ground side (-) of a 12 volt power source.
(6) Attach other jumper wire to the positive (+) side of a 12V power source. Do not connect this jumper wire to relay at this time. CAUTION: Do not allow ohmmeter to contact terminals 85 or 86 during these tests. Damage to ohmmeter may result.
(7) Attach the other jumper wire (12V +) to terminal 86. this will activate relay. Continuity should be present between terminals 87 and 30, and NOT present between 87A and 30.
(8) Disconnect jumper wires from relay and 12V source.
(9) If continuity or resistance tests did not pass, replace relay.
If the relay checks out fine... wire tracin' time. Post back the results.

"i meant to ask is it possible to upgrade the tranny to a 4 speed auto instead of the 3spd?"
believe me when i say this... you would not want to do that.
although the O/D is nice... its more of a downgrade. the 3-speed actually lasted, the 4-speed was a big piece of garbage.
BTW, did you find out the fuel pump problem?

no haven't gone to check that out yet it is 65 miles away, still trying to get it here so i can work on it, the last time i worked on it is when i replace all the hoses ( fuel) and replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump
