Default Shifting an auto like a standard.

I'am just curious about shifting my automatic like a standard, like go from 1 to 2, to D, will this hurt the tranny in my Shadow? thanks.

No, won't hurt it, but why do you want to shift it like this? If you want the trans to hold the gears longer, push harder on the gas, otherwise just let it upshift and save the fuel.
What I would do in my LeBaron when it was an auto was to shift down from OD to D on certain hills to keep the engine from lugging or the trans from hunting, also sometimes while passing semis to keep the trans in 3rd gear past 80mph. Never had a problem with the trans in 137K miles but got tired of not having a clutch and 5 speeds...

Ok thanks. I was just curious, because I've been doing it lately, out of bordem, and wondered if it was hurting the tranny or not.

It only hurts the tranny if you over-rev while manually shifting or overheat the trans fluid by using lower gears at higher speeds.

+1 when i do it with my car I dont go over 30 mph in first and 50 mph in second. Cause i dont got a tach. But it is fun in first to get it up to 30 and shift to 2nd and have the front end dip. Makes me feel as if my car actually has horsepower. LOL.
