I don't really have any collector vehicles right now. I'm getting ready to retire in a couple of years and I'm getting all my finances in order to make the change. In the past, I've had a 1982 merceded 380SL roadster, 1952 Dodge B3PW Power Wagon, a couple of BMW's, a 325i convertible and 528i sedan. I built the ultimate sleeper once out of a 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham (Imperial). I almost lost my license in that one for 124 in a 55 zone. I've had other notable rides too but I can't remember all of them. I've owned and drove somewhere around 250-300 cars through the years. That's not counting my parts cars that I didn't put plates on.

Whoops, I didn't see your reply to my previous message, which I'd forgotten I'd sent!

Yes, as mentioned in the other message, I have been through Evansville, I was heading North from Clarksville, where I know a guy who used to work for Chrysler doing design work. I saw the Viper up on the pole there in Henderson KY, that amazed me.

    Hi,

I do appreciate you coming in on my travel thread. It adds interest when others make comments.

I'm thinking that 'SW Indiana' might be around Evansville, an area I visited on my second trip. Spectacular pair of bridges crossing the Ohio River there.

Currently I'm in negotiations with a guy in the other corner of Indiana near Louisville to get an NV4500 transmission for my B350 van. It's going to be a bit of a financial setback but I believe it will give me a level of reliability and usability better than I have now. The A833 overdrive unit in it has spoken out about being abused, you might say.

So what are the prize vehicles you have in your collection?

I'm getting away from toys. I'm getting ready to retire. Once I do that and get used to not having much money, I'll go from there. I've owned about 250-300 cars and trucks through the years, most of which could be called toys. Right now I've got a Cadillac Escalade with an atitude, an '02 Ram 1500 a 2004 Chevy Impala and a 2002 GL1800 Goldwing motorcycle.

I've been looking at your travels. When you went from Louisville to Bedford Indiana, you weren't too far from me. I'm near Evansville in the extreme southwest corner of the state.

Hi, and thank you for the go-ahead to put my story on the 'members rides' section of the forum.

I hope you are enjoying it and with a couple of hundred hits already I guess others are too.

I added to my original post to make it a bit more complete. As for Fremantle, that's diametrically opposite where I live, a long way from home, but I have been there (was it really back in 1979? Why is everything more than forty years ago?) and I guess I will go again. I'd like to take my van there, actually.

I'm currently in the process of buying an NV4500 5-speed for my van from a place in Indiana. It's going to be relatively expensive by the time I get it here and work out how to instal a hydraulic clutch etc, but it will make the van nice and bullet-proof. Well, that and a Dana 60 rear end will.

What sort of toys do you play with?

    Ray
