Exhaust or CAI??
Okay, from those that have done it...
K&N CAI? or Borla/Mopar exhaust first???
I plan on both, but which is a better buy first?? I know they both aren't huge increases in power or performance... but... the money thing isn't much of a concern (well, buying both of them at the same time is)...
just want some input... thanks guys/girl(s)...

The Mopar/Borla cat-back exhaust and the K & N Typhoon CAI, they both yield about the same gains. So then it would just come down to which you prefer the increased sound from. With the exhaust you will get a little louder and quite a bit deeper tone, with the CAI you will get the turbo sucking sound, people say you can hear the purge valve (BOV), flutter and train like turbo whistle under heavy throttle. But if your talking about a nicer turbo-back exhaust then you will get far more volume on the exhaust side as well as larger performance gains. So as you can see it all comes down to what your wanting and looking for.
I would say they both are good for the engine. They both sound good. They provide similar gains.
Only thing is - I would do the intake first and save for a good 3" exhaust. You will love the sound and the exh. won't limit you if you want to go high power. A 2.5" might limit you at some point.

The Mopar/Borla system is good for up to around 325 HP. If you plan on more than that, go with the 3 inch system.
I was planning for this car "simple" mods.... a CAI, an exhaust, "lighter" window tint, and if I get the bug... well... stage 2... it's already plenty quick for me
So I think the Borla would be alright with that setup, though, you guys do raise a good point, more air in/out is always a good thing... maybe a 3" system for the exhaust is a better way to go... hmmm...
I have a 66 Chevy II (Nova) that I have big plans for as my "fast car", so the Neon doesn't have to be radically extreme - hahaha...
RR, you have the K&N set up right?? you got pic's somewhere of it?? I thought you did, if I recall... anyone?? thanks!

It sounds like the 2.5" will be fine for your purposes. From what I hear 3" won't make a huge difference until you go beyond stage 2.
It should work for stage 2. It is a real good piece for the money.

Stick with the 2.5" Mopar/Borla, it yeilds the same gains as the 3" exhausts all the way up to around 300-350 horsepower. If Stage 2 is as far as your gonna go, then just get the Mopar/Borla since it has the same gains as the 3" systems with it. Here are a few pics of my K & N Typhoon CAI:
