Axles...
Ok.. so I am boggled at this situation all together...
The inner boot on my axel for the passenger CV joint fell off about 3 days. ago.. Well, I took all the peices up to the local dealership, and they said they cannot order just the individual spacer I need for the CV boot, I would have to buy the entire axle. The spacer that came off the axel is split in 3 spots, but is still whole (Its split longways between the 3 lobes) and they told me if I put it back together, it will probably just fall apart again. They also brought it to my attention that the part number off that particular axel I presented them with was for an automatic transmission! Is this even possible?! the axel fit PERFECTLY into the manual transmission and the hub...
I need some direction here guys, and they are wanting 200-300 for a new axle too! Suggestions appreciated!

Didn't you grab the whole motor/tranny out of a wrecked Srt-4 ? .... why would it have the wrong axles in it is my point....a lot of times the part numbers on the actual part are a universal number.....the actual numbers normally differ due to specification of the car they are fitted for. If I worked at Dodge I could figure it out for ya... unfortunatley I work at Nissan.
The only problem is I didnt personally pull the parts, someone else did.. long story... but still, I dont see how they can be ATX axels if they fit on the MTX hub and MTX tranny! I am just gonna have them try and put it back together, hope it lasts me a little while so I can save up for other axles..
just get a replacement set (and i mean set, don't just replace the bad one, the other one is probably on it's way out too then) from mpsc or s&p. they go for about $120 or so last i ordered. the dealer is correct, they can't just order replacement parts, you have to order the whole thing. considering how cheap our axles are that's probably why.
