yea but you're forgetting that this is a neon. it's not a mustang or a corvette. i don't really see the value of these things going up that much.

what's so big deal about a mustang? unless it's a cobra, roush, saleen, shelby, steeda, foosh or some other special build i don't see a mustang having any better resale value than any other car that they make 900,000 of every year. for example: when i bought my '05 new for $18,900 in the middle of '06 i checked the local used car listings for a 1 year old srt4 and the price usually ranged from $18,500 - $19,500 with a few used '05 srt4's listing at sticker or above and 1 year old mustangs were selling for about the same price as the srt4'seven though it stickered for 7-10k higher. not a day goes by that i don't see at least 15-20 mustangs on the road. and if supply and demand ever play a factor on the srt4 then it can't help but increase with so many being sent to the crushers.

Mustang does have that 40+ years of history...

and a whole list (not all) of A-hole drivers... (joking... sort of... )

we're not talking about 1 year old cars here. for a car's resale value to really go up it really has to be in the 15-20+ year old range. first off, i don't see neons lasting that long. and who wants a neon anyway? i'll drool over a 1969 mustang fastback, not a 20 year old neon.

the difference is that people actually WANT mustangs. no one wants a neon lol.

neons not lasting as long as mustangs?

well maybe they just don't build stangslike they did 20+ years ago because by the time my '02 mustang gt was 3 years old it rattled, squeeked and leaked from bumper to bumper inside and out. driving it over a bumpy road or over a set of railroad tracks sounded like i was hauling a load of pipes and fart bags in the trunk and that was with subframe supports welded in. any fluid that could leak, leaked - still no leaks, rattles or squeeks of any kind on the srt4 and i'll check back in 2 years and see if the srt turned into the huge rotted turd that the mustang evolved into, but i doubt if it'll have 1/10th the problems the stang had. and i know that i'm sure not the only one to go FROM a mustang to a neon.

btw, and i'm not trying to come off as a creep, but if people really want mustangs and they induce drool from you, why are you driving a neon?

Bro you are taking this the wrong way ...... WE obviously want neons because we drive them....BUT the MAJORITY would rather not ...... hence why old neons aren't worth anything.

Edit: Oh .... forgot to add.... if anyone wants to trade me their 69 mach 1 preferably with a 428 cobra jet, I'm down.

i already agreed that the mustang is more desired since there are so many on the roads. being a more desired vehicle doesn't make it better, that's just the point i was trying to make because i personally am not concerned with thefuture auction potentials of cars i buy.

... and i'll take a 1971 convertible 440 cid 'Cuda "six pack" to go.

because i sold my 1990 lx and someone crashed my 69 fastback. decided on something different. now i want another mustang honestly.

and no being desired doesn't make it better, but it does make it worth more.

Exactly my point.

Exactly my point.
"and 1 year old (desired) mustangs were selling for about the same price as the srt4'seven though it stickered for 7-10k higher."

and if people think they can predict that a "desired" 2005 flood-the-market mustang will be worth more than a 2005 srt4 about 15-20 years from now, more power to them.

that probably wouldn't stop me from buying a new roush427 or a special built steeda Q mustang but if it loses 10k in value the 1st year or has a list of problems, i won't be surprised. just know that i'd never ever get another generic gt like 10,000 other people in town have.
