ok, so if you are going to go with a professional occ, which one do you all recommend. I was looking at the GReddy on Modernperformance.com
If any of you have the GReddy, where in the engine bay did you install the occ? Do you really need the associated braket?

My Greddy wouldn't fit on the passenger side, I had to mount it on the drivers side near the front with the bracket....didn't really like it there, so I took it off and put the on the "ghetto can" and zip tied it to the A/C line on the passenger side. No problems, it fills up with oil about every 6-8 weeks and no, I don't pour it back in the engine....

here's a pic of my engine bay, you can see where i mounted mine. i built a bracket myself from parts at home depot for about $1.50.

someone should do a test and end the debate.

https://dodgeforum.com/tm.asp?m=74649

it's not an official test... but as an engineer, working in the machine tool industry, I don't think there is a difference except the price... others may disagree, and until there is more substantial "proof" than "so and so" likes it, I am going to roll with my cheaper unit. To each their own, I just don't see a difference...

as they say in Tommy Boy:
"you can take a s*** in a box and place a guarantee on it, but all you have is a piece of s*** in a box" (or something like that)

I'm looking to install the $20 occ on my 04 srt and have read the 'how to' on srtforum.com's site. I was a little confused on how exactly to go about it since in the diagram it looks like it runs from the crankcase valve to somewhere in the back of the engine. Or is it just being connected back onto the stock hose that runs to the intake manifold? Also, I've read generic sites on occ's and people talk about oil being in their intercooler, but it looks like the hose connects to the intake downstream of the intercooler on the srt. Is this right? A little help please.

Also, have any warranty issues popped up after installing the occ?

Thanks guys!
I have 2 OCC's on my SRT-4, one on the PCV hose and the other is on the hose that comes out of the drivers side of the valve/cam cover and into the intake tube (it goes into the air box if you do not have a CAI and the OCC on this line is only of useful if you have a CAI).

The routing of the hoses for the $20 OCC is up to the person who installs it. You can install it on either the PCV side or the intake manifold side, the choice is yours, I put mine on the PCV side. If you put it on the PCV side you will simply be removing the short 2"-3" long section of hose that connects the PCV valve to the hard plastic line that goes under the intake manifold and over to the other side where it is connected to the intake manifold. You find the spot where you want to mount your OCC. You then attach a hose to the PCV valve and route it into the OCC on it's inlet side, it will have an arrow on it showing it's direction of flow. Then you attach another hose from the outlet side of the OCC and route it into the hard plastic line that the short hose you removed was attached to. Secure everything and your done. You can mount your OCC anywhere that is safe and easy to access and route your hoses any way you like, as long as they are free and clear of any moving parts and not in a place where they may be pinched or kinked when the hood is closed.

The oil in the intercooler is very common and it gets there from the PCV hose and where it goes into the intake manifold. Since it goes into the intake manifold just behind the throttle body and because of the throttle bodys location and position, when the engine is not running any oil in the intake manifold will run down into and through the throttle body thus getting into the intercooler. If you have a CAI or short ram on your SRT-4 and you do not have an OCC on the hose that goes from the valve/cam cover into the intake tube, then oil can get into the intercooler as well as the turbo from this hose. If you have the stock air box still, then you are fine and will not need an OCC on that hose. But if you do still have the stock air box on it look inside of it (easiest to see if you take out the air filter), towards the back near the bottom on the left side (as you face the car from the front) you will notice a sponge filter with oil running down from it. This is where that same hose connects to your air box and this shows you the proof of the oil being drawn from the engine from this hose, and it will draw even more from it when it is connected to the intake pipe from a CAI or short ram kit because the vacuum signal will be much stronger than it was in the air box.

There have been no issues or problems related to the OCC's as far as warranties are concerned, that I have heard of.

Here is a picture of my OCC's, I have highlighted the OCC's and where they route to and from. I hope this will help you out:

if i choose to go with the greddy one, does this means i have to get an aftermarket CAI?, or would it fit with the stock air box?
