Default steering pop

the other day i noticed an unusuall sound coming from my steering system along with a "popping" feel. it only happens in between shifts and initial take off. any ideas?

could be wheel hop, does it happens when you get out in a quick manner? EX: when racing or when trying to pass some one alse in a lower gear 1st, 2nd and maybe 3rd, if so this could be wheel hop.

no, it doesn't matter. it does it at any type of launch, being easy or hard on the throttle. i have never experienced this in any of my cars.

That happened on my old Neon. The rubber in the motor mounts went bad, allowing the engine to rock.

with only 1700 miles on the car would the cv and mounts really be an issue?

Anything is possible? i could have torn when driving over something that could've caused the damage. Also, check ya steering knuckle and ya Power steering levels & Res. for any leaks
