Part Questions (WGA and MBC)
I just recently figured out what WGA and MBC stand for, damn, when your're new to this turbo thing there are too many acronyms to sort out. Anyways, I have put a few things in my car since I first got it but every where I look the above mentioned items are listed. Does the Boost controller increase your boost at all or just restrict it to what you want? Will I be able to get more than 15/16psi? As for the WGA, correct me if I'm wrong but if I want to be able to contain higher psi I need one better than the stock WGA. Any suggestions on a brand? Thank you
The stock waste gate control is controlled by a duty cycle soleniod. The "worry wort" controller (I have Stg 1), will
increase or decrease boost according to different conditions. Stage one will spike 15psi at lower rpm's, but you'll only see 12 or 13 at 5000. The trick is that the system is adaptive, meaning if you put a mechanical control bleed set up, the PCM will eventually compensate and set it back to "wimp" mode. The trick is to install a bleed system that has a larger, much larger bleed capability than the stock system. Once you get this in, it takes a couple of days of tweeking, but I have overridden the stock solenoids capability. (i'm just waiting to see if it throws a ck engine light). Dont go much higher than 18 psi, and that better be with some good fuel!!!!! The biggest gain here is part throttle boost, followed by an incredibly fast boost kick, then some 2-3 extra psi up high in the revs makes it pull hard to 6k. BE CAREFUL WITH HIGH BOOST PRESSURES, unless headgaskets are a hobby. By the way, anything over 18 or 19 psi with the stock turbo wont make any more power. It cant flow enough to keep up.
