I had a shorty on my Stratus Coupe, and never had a problem with reception. I'm not a huge radio fan though, so I may just shave the antenna off and attach an internal one

I've got a "shorty" on right now, something like 12-13 inches, but the 3" aluminum one sounds sweet. Let me find my piggy bank.......
