I know, relocate the intake air temp sensor to a warmer spot to keep the boost up in the colder air for even more power.

I have thought of taking the sensor out of the intake and wedging it some place warm, but I wasn't sure if htis was a good idea. Would it be safe?

Depending on the air temp difference, the amount of boost difference, and the amount of overhead you have in your current setup, it may cause problems (detonation, things like that). Generally, just tricking the computer into raising the boost, or just using an MBC / WGA to raise the boost, is a bad idea, but some people have gotten away with it so far, so you may be ok.

It should be fine as long as it's not too warm of a place. Since it relies on several sensors to control everything it will be fine, the O2 sensor will let it know to richen the fuel to keep from causing detonation and other bad things.
