COBALT SS SUPERCHARGED
You are correct. The advantage to an SC'd car is that it is less problematic and less likely to have parts failures. The SC also doesn't suffer any lag either since it is belt driven. They can be slightly easier to get more out of since all they have to do to get more out of them is change the pulley.
Ha ha thanks Mitch. I mean seeing as we have boost and they don't and the like, it would just make more sense that theres so much more to play with inside a TC'd engine. Now that I'm reaffirmed in that sense....I feel much better LOL. Plus that SC whine...though at first it sounds sweet....can get annoying DAMN quick.
Yep. There are gear to gear timing gears for V8's that replace the timing chains and you can get them in a version that sounds louder and more like a SC's whine, so some musclecars that sound like they are probably aren't unless it's sticking up out of the hood.
There was this kid with an 88 5.0 (4.9) Mustang and he had one in it, whatever the hell it was it was OBNOXIOUS! The whole car was rattling from side to side and whining like a kid that wanted ice cream but his mom said no. DAMN it drove me nuts! He had it running for a good half hour too at a RISR get together a couple years back....I finally went over and shut the thing off. [:@]
turbos are more efficent too. yeah, superchargers dont have any lag, but they have a constant drag on the engine, while the turbo, once you get through the lag, is pretty much self feeding.
supercharged set ups are usually cheaper too, at least from my experience with mustangs. to sc a fox it's about $2500 for a vortech. all you need is a h pipe and new injectors and you're good to go. to turbo the same car it's 3-5k (dependant on single or twin and size), plus supporting mods, which are more costly due to bov's, wga's, mbc/ebc, etc.....
i'm glad to see chevy taking notice of the sport compact market. i don't really like the cobalt, but at least they're trying. i wish it was available in the color that it was in at the car shows, it was a blue/purple mystic paint. but i asked and they said that it was only for the shows. i actually have some pics of this car too!!!

The thing is, a lot of cars are seeing 200 HP lately, and not just one's costing $30K. I'm surprised GM didn't go for more in the power plant department. It's not like they don't know how......maybe they just forgot.[:'(]
Like I'm going to forget about this car..........!!![sm=smiley36.gif]

Wow a picture of the front of the car! Whoaaaa!! Everyone takes pictures of the ***. I admit I liked the concept a bit better...but I'm not driving it so I don't really mind much.
That blue/purple color is almost the same color thats on my Miata. Strato Blue Mica Pearlcoat. It changes between blue/purple. Thats what drew me in to the Miata in the first place. [:@] And 30 grand [>:]

In my opinion it is the same car as the saturn red line ion, I think a few months back road and track compared the two. The srt won out. It is a better car. Ion had better brakes and suspension, but no limited slip, so worse in tight, tight corners. As far a sc, the blowers on funny cars and drag cars are superchargers. So, to my knowledge they are better getting the most power out of an engine period. Turbos are just cooler period, turbos are all the rage right now, and anything sc, ion colbalt, will fail in comparision. PEACE
