is the srt4 underrated from the factory?
I've heard somewhere that the srt4 is underrated horsepower wise from the factory. Is the 230 horsepower to the wheels or the crank? I heard that the srt4 was putting out more like 245-250. Can someone help me out? Thanks.
The 2003s were underrated by Mopar. And there is some truth to the fact that the 04s and 05s are underrated as well, just not as drastically as the 03s were. But yes they are underrated....and it really depends on the car for the whp....they aren't all the same. My car's on crack from the factory.
Mopar has been underrating their performance figures since the 1960's.....partly to save people some $$ on their insurance......according to Modern Performance's website, they feel the SRT-4 is closer to 245-250 hp, stock.
Yep. The '03 that Sport Compact Car magazine tested dynoed at 223 WHP, the factory rated the '03's at 215 HP at the crank. The '04-'05's are more realistically rated at 230 HP at the crank, but that is still a gross under rating since they are usually that at the wheels.
I know '05's are underrated because my friend who works in garage dyno'ed my car and it was 247 HP. So either '05's are underrated or mine personally is

Asmo, that's a pretty high number, most commonly theres a correction factor error. This is usually seen in dynos done at altitude.
Which shop was this? If they post sheets, it's pretty easy to spot a trend, like a Honda with more than 100 ftlbs of torque
Or an RX-8 with over 230whp
