Im getting the maxxfab turboback see with O2 housing and I was wondering will I be hurting my performance by getting the high flow cat with it. I know its illegal in my state to not run a cat but I don't want the restriction it poses. Are we talking a couple horsepower or like 5hp+? That pretty much will determine my decision.

 

Some hi flow cats flow as much cfm as the race mufflers. I'm not sure how they work with the O2 sensors and ECU operation or if they pass an emmisions test, probably not. I'm looking at installing OBDII certified but I have an '01 Ram work truck, not exactly drag strip stuff. I'd look into this because the O2 's will mess up your air/ fuel and rob you of the performance your try to gain. You might be able to adjust thisby reprogramming the ECU but I'm still looking into that aspect. Good luck. ( it is a good idea to run some sort of cat atleast )

 

as long as you have s1 don't worry about anything. most people aren't running a cat at all, but if you feel you have to then a high flow is your best option.

 

Yes I have S1. I will most likely go without a cat and get a resonator to help the noise level a bit. Thanks for the input.

 

im running 3" turbo back with no cat or muffler.....and it is LOUD. it came with 4" single wall tips that acted like a megaphone and had a very deep echo to it......but to tone it down a little....i cut the tips and put somthing a little more attractive and small.....got rid of the echo....maid it a little bit quieter but still loud enough.....havnt gotten been pulled over yet....mass.

 

I have had the MPX turbo back with no cat for years and never have had a problem with the police. If you have to do emissions testing is when you will get into trouble. I am glad they havent brought it back to michigan yet!
